As more manufacturers release injectable drugs, FutureScripts has adopted a proactive approach to covering these medications. A number of procedures help plan participants access these new, usually high-cost drugs through the most convenient and cost-effective means possible.
While many injectables are administered in hospitals and doctors offices, others are self-administrable. To accommodate plan participants wishing to adminster injectable drugs at home, FutureScripts offers a benefit for purchasing injectable drugs in a retail pharmacy. FutureScripts can also facilitate convenient access to injectables administered by a health care provider through our Direct Ship Program.
To make sure these drugs are appropriate for use and administered in the correct setting, a number of newer injectable drugs do require prior authorization.
